Description
Yet more hard to find Swansea Porcelain, this time a superb porcelain cup and saucer dating to 1817-20.
This lovely duck-egg Swansea porcelain cup and saucer is of a typical London Shape type 1 with the typical "Swansea flick" to the upper portion of the handle. The cup and saucer are both very finely decorated with gilt flowers and berries and the base of each are marked with the red stencil Swansea mark along with the pattern 449. This pattern is illustrated in Swansea Porcelain, by WD John, see plate 81c.
The saucer is approximately 5 & 3/4 inches(14.6cm) in diameter and both the cup and saucer are in an excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs.
