This attractive compactum wardrobe dates from around the 1820s/30s. Please note that it is in need of some restoration. The wardobe has a hanging section to either side - both with later replacement rails, and one of which would originally have been shelved. In between the hanging sections is chest of three drawers with two-door cupboard above with a single removable shelf inside. The piece is supported on an inverted plinth base. The sections retain locks, but please note that no key is present. Please not that it splits down into five pieces for ease of transportation.
Slade's Antiques has clarified that the William IV Flame Mahogany Compactum Wardrobe (LA80633) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being c.1830
Overall this handsome piece is in usuable condition but does have some wear consistent with age and use and would benefit from some restoration work. It has some signs of restoration and repair - both the hanging rails are replacements and the side that would originally have been shelved is missing its shelf. There is some quite heavy scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected and the piece is overall a little faded. There are some paint marks and some losses and cracking to the wood and veneer in places. There is no key present. The piece would benefit from sympathetic restoration.
