A fine quality William IV period by T. Willson of Great Queen Street, London (stamped to the rear). Of excellent construction in solid mahogany and of generous proportions. Now offered for sale in very good original condition with a good colour and patina. With 3 tiers and surmounted by an upstand to the rear. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops and ready to go straight into the home.
Thomas Willson is listed as a furniture broker and appraiser at 68 Great Queen Street in London between 1821-29, and is likely to be the ‘Thomas Willson’ recorded as an auctioneer at 28 Great Queen Street, 1799-1825. As well as retailing second-hand furniture, by companies like Gillows, paper labels used by the firm suggest Willson was also a cabinet maker. Following his death, his widow Mary and son, Matthew continued the firm, from 1830 until 1837.
