William Watkins Mahogany Library Telescope with Case

A wonderful quality Georgian library telescope, this was made by William Watkins of London in the late 18th century and comes in its original box with 2 additional lenses. It is in lovely condition and will look fabulous in any room, perhaps kept near a window with a great view over land or sea. - Engraved to the pullout drawer tube: W. Watkins, St James Street, London, with the number 27577. - Stands on large brass tripod base, with folding cabriole legs and compass joint. - Tapered wooden body. - Push/pull draw tube with rack and pinion adjustment to fine focus. - Pre-achromatic objective glass. - Heavy brass dust cap. - 2 additional screw-in lenses. - Original mahogany carrying box.
