This iconic design from the German firm WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik) was apparently officially entitled "The First Cuckoo", but is often known as The Echo. It was manufactured in about 1906, and was shown as model 131 in the WMF Catalogue for that year. The mirror is a classic example of what was called Jugendstil in Germany but perhaps would be more easily recognisable as Art Nouveau. On the underside of the foot (typically WMF marks are often well disguised) are the WMF three letter mark, EP for Electro-plated, I/O indicating the silver thickness, and OX indicating that the sliver was oxidised to a grey colour. The bevelled edge mirror, backing and strut are original. Please note, there are reproductions of this mirror on the market. This is an original.

Very good condition. The back board has one fixing missing (the screw spindle has broken), very slight irregularities in the pewter. The patina is even and pleasing, close to the original intention of the piece.
