John Sanderson-Wells was an English artist born in 1872 and was best known for his naturalistic depictions of horses and genre scenes. Born in 1872 in London.He studied at the Slade School of Art in London and later at the Académie Julian in Paris. Sanderson-Wells exhibited at both the Royal Academy in London and was elected to the Royal Institute in 1903. Much of his work was commissioned by the gentry and so remains in private collections, but can also be found in Museums and Art Galleries in the United Kingdom. He died on March 10, 1955.
