Oliver Clare - Artist

Oliver Clare (1853-1927) was the son of the renowned still-life artist George Clare. Father and son were both well known for their beautifully executed and precisely detailed still life and flower paintings. Oliver spent most of his artistic life in Birmingham. It is widely assumed that he received most, if not all, of his artistic training from his father as their technique and choice of subject matter are almost identical. Clare exhibited many paintings throughout his lifetime, including at the Royal Society of Artists in Birmingham, the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool and the Manchester City Art Gallery. Throughout the late 1870's and early 1880's he lived in London where he exhibited several works at the Royal Academy and the Royal Society of British Artists, Suffolk Street.
