William Lakin of 35 Market Street, Tamworth, Staffordshire, (from where this clock would have been made) born in Market Bosworth, Leicestershire, c1801, Lakin was a horologist with immense expertise, having spent a long and prosperous life making clocks, which lasted into at least his 72nd year! He eventually passed away at Tamworth in 1878, aged 77.
