Andrew Hennell has been collecting and dealing in period oak furniture and country furniture and antiquities for over 35 years, placing numerous items into both museum and private collections with many pieces having being published.
Many of the items held in stock are fresh to the market and have been sourced privately with Andrew spending a third of the year based in South West France visiting clients in their homes from whom many of the early pieces are acquired.
Locating early pieces of period oak furniture and antiquities from private sources is time consuming and when an opportunity arises to take a look at something that is ‘fresh to the market’ that has not been trawled through the auction rooms, Andrew will travel to a client’s home to appraise the originality and condition of such an item with a view to acquiring it should it be worthy of inclusion in Andrew’s personal collection or for resale.
Antiques Of Woodstock is the name of Andrew’s shop in the centre of Woodstock in Oxfordshire and from which the current stock can be viewed. When not visiting clients and sourcing new pieces, Andrew opens the shop both days over the weekend and on Wednesdays and for those travelling a distance arrangements can be made to visit the shop outside of these opening hours.
"I have been extremely fortunate to be able to turn my passion for antique oak furniture, archaeology and antiquities, into a business" explains Andrew. "My clients range from people, such as myself, who love the history, feel, touch and patina of an early piece of antique oak furniture to those people who are moving into a country cottage for the first time and want advice on how to furnish their home with pieces of antique oak furniture that are in keeping with the age and style of their property".
Andrew's stock of early oak and country furniture, associated period items and antiquities is constantly changing so whether you are a collector, antique dealer, interior designer or a person looking to buy antiques/antiquities for the first time, browse through our stock on line or make a special trip visit our shop, but please check first that Andrew is in the UK and therefore able to meet you and that the shop is open....
