18th Century Oak Chest of Drawers on Stand

A fine early 18th-century oak chest of drawers, dating to the first quarter of the 1700s, retaining its original stand with elegant cabriole supports. This handsome piece is constructed in rich, well-figured oak, displaying a deep, warm patina developed over centuries of use. The upper section is fitted with four long, graduated drawers, each with finely grained drawer fronts and retaining their period brass swan-neck and escutcheon fittings. The drawers open smoothly to reveal traditional oak linings with hand-cut dovetail joints, clearly visible and indicative of early craftsmanship. Below, the chest is raised on its original base, incorporating three further drawers above a shaped apron, all standing on graceful cabriole legs terminating in pad feet. The proportions are both robust and refined, making this chest a striking yet versatile piece, equally suited to a traditional country house interior or as a statement piece in a more contemporary setting.
