Description
Just imagine the life on the canal and this sign attached to the side of your barge.
No doubt the life was a hard one and probably a nice if you didn't know anything different, family in tow, entire possessions on the boat with you where ever you travelled to-and-fro. Once the lifeblood of the country transporting goods up and down the country, very nostalgic
Take a look at the colours, script and wear. Such a charming piece of historic art, with a warm hue of the subtle brown base paint, the muted yellow border framing both inner panels. The delightful floral design is wonderful framed off by the owners name J. Jones & Co - Birmingham. Barge no 12 registered in 1912. Says it all really.
Very rarely do this come up and I will probably not see another for some time.
This is as found, has not been restored or cleaned in anyway, all original.
