This fine antique George V sterling silver jewellery box has a plain rectangular form. The surface of the body is plain and unembellished. This jewellery box is fitted with a hallmarked hinged cover ornamented with fine and impressive engine turned decoration incorporating a central vacant rectangular cartouche, with a narrow plain and unembellished border to the rim. The cover features a tri-lobed shaped chest style push fit catch, embellished with further engine turned decoration. The interior surface of the cover retains the original gilding. The box is supported by plain bracket feet to each corner. The body of this antique silver jewellery box is lined with cedar wood and compartmentalised with a bespoke navy blue velvet fitment which provides a central well bordered by integrated ring holders at either side. This impressive box has a weighted base and retains the original burgundy leatherette to the underside.
