Vintage 1950s Opal Drop Earrings – 18ct Gold Long Dangle Earrings A gorgeous pair of vintage opal drop earrings dating to the 1950s, beautifully fashioned in rich 18 carat yellow gold. Each earring is set with an oval cabochon opal displaying a lovely predominately turquoise hue, enlivened by flashes of green, blue, yellow and orange as the stones catch the light. The opals are surrounded by a delicate finely detailed gold border which gives the earrings a particularly attractive finish. The opals are suspended from long, articulated knife-edge drops, allowing them to move gently when worn and enhancing both their colour and sparkle. Above each drop is a polished gold bead leading to a traditional shepherd's hook fitting. At 4 cm long, these earrings have a wonderfully elegant and feminine appearance without being overly large. Their simple linear design gives them a distinctly mid-century character whilst remaining remarkably wearable today. They look fabulous when worn, with the movement of the drops continually changing the colour visible within the opals.
