Description
A super correspondence box from the mid 19th century in Amboyna with decorative brass escutcheon and vacant cartouche edged in Greek key and brass stringing. The original lock and key is working and locks with two complete turns suggesting it is of French origin. A pair of 19th century ink bottles are fitted and an ebony rule included. The velvet writing surface appears to be original. The upper fall raises to reveal a polished storage area, a really lovely box and hard to find in such beautiful condition.
