19th Century French Oak Day Bed

Hutton-Clarke Antiques is pleased to offer this elegant 19th Century (c.1840) French antique oak day bed, a wonderfully shaped piece with graceful proportions and excellent decorative presence. The frame stands on finely carved cabriole legs with a shaped apron running along the front, giving the piece a light and refined appearance typical of good French provincial craftsmanship. The solid oak frame has developed a lovely warm colour and patina over time. The day bed retains its old upholstery and is ready for re-upholstery, making it an ideal project piece. Once recovered it would make a superb decorative chaise longue or day bed for a bedroom, sitting room, or hallway. A charming and practical antique that combines elegant form with strong construction.
