Description
The little detail on the carved legs and arm supports can uplift a chair to new heights, this one is no exception. The very fine chip carving on the base block of the arm supports is small and if you blink you miss it, but this is what makes a piece of furniture shine. On top of the chamfered blocks are turned column with fluted detailing resting on a squashed ball. The same fine and charming details have been added to the small block supporting the same turned and fluted legs to the front and finished with brass and ceramic castors. The upholstery has been done with a light blue diamond pattern on the base, back and arms, while the nicely raked back has been buttoned to add more interest. I can attest to the comfort of this chair, it is a chair you don't want to get out of, so sit back, stretch your legs out and chill. Nice deep laid back chair with serpentine open arms on walnut supports, all the things that are perfect in life. Altogether a very nice example of a mid to late 1800s library chair. Material: Walnut and Fabric Upholstery Period: Circa 1850-1880
