Attractive and Slim Light Oak Grandfather Longcase Clock Probably by John Pepper (I) who succeeded James Pepper (II) in 1766 and was in partnership with Henry Pepper from 1773-86 and the alone till his death in 1795. But could possibly his son John II who was born in 1769. Between 1720 & 1889, 10 members of the Pepper Family were Clockmakers and must have been a major influence on clock making in the Bedfordshire area. The 8 Day movement has 5 Pillars and an inside count wheel rather than the mass produced "Snail Wheel" Cam. Attractive Painted Dial with Gilt Decoration, Seconds Dial & Date Window. It has been checked, oiled and tested to be in Full and Good Antique Working condition. Height: 91 in or 231cm to include the tall finials. 74.75in or 215cm excluding Finials.
