Fully assay marked old style UK and x-ray tested. Classic halo cluster ala Diana / Kate Middleton. Dates to middle part of the 19th Century c1880s. Simple elegance and very eye catching. In olden times the alloying of gold left it too soft to mount stones in effectively. For this reason other metals were used to provide a more secure setting - in this instance platinum. Gemstones: Natural rose cut central blue sapphire surrounded by 6 x natural rose cut white diamonds. Sapphire could use a polish. Width across setting is 8 mm. Width at the back is 1.5 mm. Height of gallery is 5mm. It is only my opinion but I feel antique items that are polished too much lose some of the character.
