Description
A good 19th century Qing period bamboo tea caddy with cover. Carved with a ho-o bird (phoenix) and a pair of figures under trees on opposing panels. The original matching cover relief carved with the same pair of figures under trees. The base has a two character painted mark in dark brown.
Pleasing aged colour. The raised pattern in the end grain indicates a 19th century age and the design is known from other examples of the period.
