For sale this week is a very accomplished watercolour heightened with gum arabic. The scene is rather menacing with a man hovering over a young woman lying in bed. I would estimate it was painted around 1870 and is British in origin. It is one of several by the same artist that I will be listing over the next few days, so it is possible this series is part of a set of illustrations for a book. The backing paper measures about measures about 27 by 22 centimeters. The image itself measures about 15 by 12 centimeters. Total weight is about 35 grams.
Condition is good with birght colours and strong contrast. Minor smudges and wear in places from handling over time. Please refer to the photographs.
Feel free to ask questions; I usually get back to you quickly!
Shipping will be free within the UK. There is a reasonable shipping charge for foreign buyers.
****Dear American customers: Please note that there is a new tariff on low value items being imported into the United States for which you will be responsible. Please plan accordingly****
The items I sell are fully guaranteed to be as I have described them. I often go on buying trips in the U.K. and to France so keep checking my page. I happily accept returns if you are dissatisfied with an item.
