Antique Arts & Crafts Oak Hall Mirror Coat Rack Hooks Gothic

Constructed in oak, the piece has a wonderfully architectural appearance with carved foliate decoration, pierced panels and a series of substantial metal coat and hat hooks mounted across the front. The central rectangular mirror is flanked by decorative openwork panels, while the two raised end sections are finished with small projecting shelves. The piece appears to have been individually made rather than being a standard factory-produced design. The construction and decorative details have a slightly irregular, workshop-made quality, giving it a particularly characterful and vernacular feel. A very decorative and practical piece for an entrance hall, boot room, cloakroom or period interior, with the strong craftsmanship and honest materials associated with the Arts & Crafts movement. The oak has developed a rich aged colour and patina, with expected marks, wear and variation from use over the years. The metal hooks also retain an attractive aged surface.
