This is an antique boot scraper and pull. An English, cast iron door entrance shoe cleaner, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1850. A fine doorway scraper of the time of the Great Exhibition. It is of generous proportion and substantial form that displays a desirable aged patina and in good order. Cast iron presented with a deep black painted finish throughout. Reassuring weight in the hand at 13.2kg (29.1 lb). Suitable for use within the entrance hall or besides the front door. 11cm (4.25'') wide scrape situated between a pair of column supports. Pair of mounting holes cast into the base, for secure fixture. Illegible maker's mark cast to the underside with pattern number 47. This is an attractive antique boot scraper with pull.
