Description
This is an antique candle pricket. An English, ebonised oak and fruitwood candlestick, dating to the Georgian period, circa 1800.
Fascinating interior decorator's piece with a delightful patina. Presents a desirably time-worn finish, commensurate with age and use. Ebonised oak and fruitwood skilfully turned with carved relief detail. Accentuated with gilt paint, providing a pleasing contrast.
Wide upper rim hosts a candle nozzle diameter of 10cm (4''). Diameter suitable for a large ecclesiastical candle, held in place upon a prominent pricket. Standing upon a trio of aged feet, the front lion's paw foot mostly complete.
This is a striking antique candle pricket, with an eye-catching weathered appearance. It is of centrepiece proportion and wonderfully distinctive. Delivered ready to display.
