Description
This is an antique chairside newspaper rack. An English, oak and brass magazine stand, dating to the Edwardian period, circa 1910.
Appealing brasswork accentuates this charming rack that displays a desirable aged patina and in good order. Warm hues to the quality brass rails with gentle curvature to the ends. Arranged as a pair of segments with a depth of 5cm (2'').
Prominent central divider doubles as a useful carry handle. Mounted upon an oak plinth with fine grain interest and medullary rays. Standing upon a quartet of shaped brass legs with pad toes. Engraved with the Wt & S 'Sun' mark for William Tonks & Sons, Birmingham.
This is an attractive antique chairside newspaper rack, with a warm appearance and usefully sized for hosting a few periodicals. Solid joints and construction, delivered ready for the home.
