Antique Charles Field Haviland Limoges Cobalt & Raised Gilt Coffee Cup & Saucer

A charming antique Limoges coffee cup and saucer by Charles Field Haviland, c.1880s. The cup is finely decorated with a deep cobalt blue ground and raised gilt decoration in the Aesthetic taste. The design is further enhanced by an unusual twig-form handle, a delightful detail which gives the piece real character and makes it especially appealing as a cabinet cup. This example is decorated with a gilt bird among branches The saucer is decorated to match, with a gilt botanical border on cobalt blue. Both pieces are marked to the underside with the Charles Field Haviland Limoges mark. A lovely quality example of late 19th-century Limoges porcelain, elegant, decorative, and very collectable.
