Antique Edwardian Royal Crown Derby Teacup & Saucer Patt. 5563

A striking Royal Crown Derby porcelain teacup and saucer with an unusual delicate ear shaped scrolled handle and shaped rims with moulded foliate detail to the edges. Decorated with a shaped mazarine blue ground, ornately framed with hand gilded scrolls, acanthus leaves, trailing foliate garlands, arabesques and delightful flowers formed from small hearts. A bat printed design of finely detailed rose garlands, shells and large exotic leaves in orange red fill the cavetto, and striking fan shaped reserves are hand painted with a lilac blue enamel. A mint green enamel is also used to highlight between the scrolls and shells inside the main blue border. The cup has a gilt frieze running inside the rim. Both pieces with matching marks with the date cyipher for 1906, and decorator's marks.
