Stunning Royal Crown Derby Edwardian Teacup & Saucer Patt. 4971

A gorgeous antique cup and saucer from Royal Crown Derby, of elegant shallow, fluted form, and hand decorated in a stunning imari style pattern with an underglaze mazarine blue frame. Large shaped reserves are smothered  with a background of finely scrolled gilt vines, in turn reserving stylised exotic flowering plants in iron red enamel and gilding. Further ornate gilding with daisy flowers to the centres, and covering the blue ground with beautiful embellishments. The outside of the cup has a very chic blue and gilt stylised border and the shaped handle is also gilded. The amount of gilding on this pattern makes the whole set truly sparkle. Factory stamps to both pieces with date cypher for 1904 and hand painted pattern number 4791.
