This is an antique elbow chair. An English, needlepoint over beech and mahogany morning room seat in Art Nouveau taste, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900. Charming needlepoint upholstery accentuates this appealing elbow chair that displays a desirable aged patina and in good order. Quality frame crafted in beech and mahogany with fine grain interest. Stocks finished with attractive warm caramel hues. Domed crest rail with prominent ears hosts an embroidered back rest. Fretwork back splat with shaped centre is accentuated with boxwood stringing. Foliate needlepoint adorns the back rest and seat cushion. Set at a comfortable height of 41cm (16.25'') with a traditionally stuffed cushion. Slender arms with tapered supports, gently swept out from the rear frame. Chair standing upon a pair of cylindrical legs at the front. Rear legs gently splay outwards with a square section form.
