Antique 18th century Georgian chest of drawers in mahogany, a handsome and well-proportioned piece of good quality, showcasing fine craftsmanship and classic understated elegance. It offers excellent storage, with two short drawers over three long graduated drawers, each with cockbeaded edges, brass swan neck handles on circular backplates and brass keyhole escutcheons. The chest has a moulded top and is raised on a moulded base with shaped bracket feet, a hallmark of the Georgian period. The drawers are pine-lined and run smoothly. The mahogany displays a lovely figured grain and a warm, rich colour, with a deep patina to the sides and top built up over generations. Presented in good condition, it is a very desirable and practical piece of neat proportions, perfect for a bedroom, landing or hallway, and would make a wonderful addition to any home.
