We are delighted to offer this magnificent pair of Georgian solid silver wine coasters/bottle holders made in London 1829 with the marks of the Barnards silversmiths. The pair features a wonderful naturally inspired foliate and floral design which was one of Barnard's distinct designs. The border features an ornate chased acanthus leaf design that flares outwards and accentuates the bottle/decanted which would be placed within. Each section of the foliate design is intricately hand-stippled with impressive precision and overall geometric proportions are aesthetically delightful. The sides of the coasters also present further elegance with a 'melon-shape' design with each section slightly balustered and joined to the circular base. Due to the large and accommodating proportions of this pair, a wide variety of bottles may be held within even in the modern day.
