Antique Silver Coasters

Antique silver coasters have been a part of the dining table since the 18th Century, when they were historically know as bottle slides. Function over there aesthectics was orginally there purpose, protecting cut class decanters from becoming chipped and for the easy passage from one diner to another, 'coasting' across the table. Built to house narrow oval bottles of the 17th Century, antiqe silver coasters were later made to fit cut-glass decanters.
