Description
19th Century tambourine dancer by the highly-rated artist Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse (1824-1887). mounted on the original rouge stone base.
His work encompassed all manner of sculptural subjects and materials, and his naturalism incorporated a breadth of styles: unembellished Realism, neo-Baroque exuberance, and Rococo elegance.
In 1862 Carrier-Belleuse was one of the founding members of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts and between 1864 and 1870 his assistant was the artist Auguste Rodin.
This is a high-quality cast gilt-bronze sculpture c.1870 carved by the great Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse.

20th Century Art Sculptures has clarified that the Antique Gilt Bronze 'Tambourine Dancer' by Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse (LA215185) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being c.1870
condition
The bronze cast is very good, there is wear and a little discolouration to the gilt finish. the general patination colour is like the first photo the other photos have picked up a reflection of the rouge stone base, so not as pink in colour, the rouge stone base is also in good condition.
