Antique Giltwood Icon After Fra Angelica 19th Century

This is a beautiful 19th century giltwood icon in excellent original condition after Fra Angelico. The icon depicts a beautiful image of the baby Jesus holding an orb to symbolise his dominion over the world. Jesu is depicted seated in the clouds demonstrating his role as both the divine ruler of earth and as the earthly ruler who receives power from God. The work is beautifully and finely painted and the surrounding carved giltwood frame has its original water gilding in lovely condition.
