Description
This ewer was hand blown in Normandy in the traditional Normandy style with high spout and two bands around the neck. The large side handle is hollow blown for lightness. It sits on a conical foot. Provenance: From the collection of Edward Barrington Haynes one of the great glass experts of the early C20th. He had an extensive knowledge of ancient and antique glass and also collected fine examples. He wrote the seminal work 'Glass Through the Ages' in which he included this particular ewer in the illustrations with the caption 'Ewer. Normandy'.
