Each chain measures 24cm including the T-bar and the clasp. One of the clasps is a period replacement but the other is original to the chain, and it is signed JFS Sons 1/10.
This tells the chain was made by J F Sturdy & Sons and the 1/10 indicates that one tenth of the items weight is gold which has been bonded to a base metal. These chains were popular in the Victorian and early 20th-century eras.
The chain comes with a later 1950s fob awarded by the Birmingham & Works Amateur Football Association, Referee Final Tie to H G Knight.
Total weight 68g
