Description
This is a small antique needlework encyclopaedia. An English language, embroidery technique and pattern guide, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900. Beginning in the Alsace region in the 18th century, Dollfus-Mieg et Compagnie (Dmc) is a long-established French textile company headquartered in the town of Mulhouse. This guide authored by Thérèse De Dillmont (1846 - 1890) an Austrian writer and needleworker. Enterprising and experienced in the field of embroidery, De Dillmont had shops across Europe and is considered a pioneer of international hobbyist needlework. Superb guide, in a delightfully compact form Bound in green cotton with contrasting black titling Translated from the original French across 850+ pages Illustrated with monochrome engravings throughout Accentuated with several full colour illustrative plates This is a fascinating antique needlework encyclopaedia, translated to English and illustrated with fine detail.
