These beautiful Satsuma-ware vases were made during the Meiji period (1868-1912), in this distinctive and wonderful style, and in Rouleau vase form. Each of baluster outline, hand decorated in colours of rich enamels with lavish gilding depicting a continuous scene of Buddhist Figures, Warriors and Courtier on a lavish gold background. The twin handles modeled as barrels within arrows. Note, each view of horses done with raised cream enamelling depicting faux ivory which gives wonderful detailing effects.
