Description
This is an antique sarcophagus tea caddy. An English, rosewood case with glass mixer, dating to the Regency period, circa 1820. Appealing craftsmanship with a striking decorative appearance. It displays a desirable aged patina and in good order. Select stocks present fine grain interest. Light caramel hues beam beneath a wax polish finish. Distinctive sarcophagus top with decorative satinwood stringing. Dressed to the fascia with a diamond shaped escutcheon — key absent. Pair of lidded canisters sit neatly with a later mixing glass to centre. Canisters in appealing original order, with gently aged linings. Mixing glass presents appealing cut detail with lozenge pattern. Sash shaped rim with a rolled, circular foot. Glass resides within a vibrant lined receptacle. The whole raised upon a quartet of dashing ball & claw feet. This is a distinctive antique sarcophagus tea caddy, with striking figuring and graced with fine Regency craftsmanship. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home. We offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee with all of our antiques.
