Antique Silver Mounted Tortoiseshell Trinket Box

Here we have an unusual and delightfully executed tortoiseshell confection from the highly respected Atkins Brothers. Dating to 1900, this beautifully crafted box is not only very well constructed, but also cleverly decorated using delicate piping of silver being applied at the corners and to the lid. The box also incorporates a strong hinge, a very elegant inset catch for added security and beautiful seaming of the tortoiseshell panels.
