Antique Smoker's Bow Chair, English, Country House Elbow Seat - Edwardian 1904

This is an antique smoker's bow chair. An English, elm and beech country house elbow seat, dating to the Edwardian period, circa 1904. Classic country house appeal to this delightful smoker's bow chair, displaying a desirable aged patina and in fine original order. Select elm and beech show excellent grain interest throughout. Resplendent in a warm caramel hue to the delightful form. The crest rail crowned with a prominent arched and bowed back rest. Baluster turned spindles rise obliquely as a support for the striking horseshoe armrest. Each serpentine arm terminates in out-turned scrolled hand grips. Comfortable saddle squab with defined leg scallops, at a height of 44cm (17.25''). Standing upon a quartet of turned baluster legs united by double 'H' stretchers. Maker's mark for William Bartlett & Sons of High Wycombe with the date stamped 1904.
