Antique Tantalus, English, Silver Plated, Three Decanter Set - Edwardian c.1910

This is an antique tantalus. An English, silver plated three decanter set dating to the Edwardian period, circa 1910. A fascinating example with a refined decorative presence and attractive later glassware. Displays a lightly time-worn, bright silver tonality throughout. Lid adorned with a decorative handle in the delightful form of a grapevine. Replete with a lock to fascia — untested, key absent. Case enhanced with fretwork panels offering views of the decanters within. Fascia engraved with a fruit motif, adding appealing decorative interest. Quality laurel wreath drop handles grace each side. Standing upon a superb quartet of lion mask feet with proud paw toes. Maker's initials to the base, likely for George Waterhouse & Co of Sheffield. Later trio of matched cut glass decanters, each of striking clarity. Each decanter dressed with a hallmarked silver collar. Faceted ball stoppers sit neatly within their respective collars.
