Description
This is a distinguished antique three bottle Tantalus. An English, oak and silver plated drinks caddy with a trio of cut glass decanters, dating to the late Edwardian period, circa 1910. A fine prize-given example, offering refined decorative appeal and functionality for the discerning collector or connoisseur. Quality oak frame, displaying fine grain interest and rich caramel hues throughout. Silver plated cappings and a tactile, rolled carry handle accentuate the form. Trio of cut glass decanters, each with diamond cut finish and bright, clear appearance. Decanters nest securely on a baize-lined platform, each seated within its own division. Substantial faceted ball stoppers rest snugly within flared rims. Stout construction, combining decorative elegance with practical storage for fine spirits. Personalised plaque to fascia, engraved as a 1st place prize for a Naval obstacle race in 1912. Dressed to the rear with a circular lock escutcheon — key present. A handsome addition to any drinks cabinet, bar or gentleman’s study. This antique Tantalus is a superb example of late Edwardian craftsmanship, being rich with character and provenance. Solid joints and construction, delivered ready for the home. We offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee with all of our antiques.
