Antique Travelling Jewellery Box, Chinese, Lacquered, Campaign Case c.1900

This is an antique travelling jewellery box. A Chinese, lacquered pine campaign case, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900. Delightful example of red lacquered craftsmanship displaying a desirable aged patina and in good original order. Lacquered pine presents a strikingly vibrant appearance. Accentuated with gilt painted scenes and decorative touches. Lid held securely with a Circular brass clasp with scallop form. Opens to a fitted interior, with a lift-out storage tray. Front fascia hosts a large shield-shape cutaway, with removable valance. When removed, the aperture aids access to a trio of fitted drawers. Each drawer dressed with a small brass drop handle, the shaped form with pierced detail. Drop handles to each side aids ease of movement in the campaign manner.
