Antique Victorian Mahogany Dressing Table with Mirror Cabinet c.1880

A refined late Victorian mahogany dressing table of narrow, elegant proportions, incorporating an enclosed mirror cabinet above two small drawers and a table base with one long frieze drawer, all raised on attractive spiral-turned legs terminating in original brass castors. The mirror cabinet opens to a shelved interior, secured by an original side-mounted lock. With rich book-matched veneers and rosewood crossbanding, the piece combines a light, upright stance and compact proportions with notable decorative impact. The original drawer handles add further decorative interest; the single frieze drawer fitted with a pair of pressed brass foliate ring pulls, with smaller flower-basket ring handles fitted to the drawers above. Traditionally intended as a ladies’ dressing table for a bedroom or dressing room, the impressive design and refined scale allow it to sit just as comfortably in a variety of interior settings. Presented in very good antique condition, with a warm, aged patina throughout and gentle wear consistent with use. The mirror shows attractive, even foxing, the drawers run smoothly, and the piece remains structurally sound, clean and ready to place. English, circa 1880.
