Antique Victorian Sterling Silver

A charming late Victorian sterling silver mounted photograph frame, crafted by the renowned Birmingham silversmith Henry Matthews and fully hallmarked for Birmingham, 1900. Henry Matthews registered his first mark in 1894 and became well known for producing finely made small silverwares, including photograph frames, dressing table items and card cases. The frame has an elegant plain silver mount with a stepped inner border, allowing the quality of the sterling silver and clean design to speak for itself. It retains its original red leather-covered easel back with hinged strut, giving the piece excellent period character. A genuine Victorian silver photograph frame by one of Birmingham's best-known makers, retaining its original backing and attractive understated design.
