Antique Windsor Bar Back Carver Chair

A good example of an antique Windsor Bar-Back carver chair dating from the mid to late 19th century. It has a shaped elm seat with curving arms supported by turned spindles. It has a curved back with central turned bar and stands on turned legs joined by a H-stretcher. The chair stands approximately 36 1/2" (93cm) high and it is 23" (58cm) wide across the arms. The seat is 17 3/4" (45cm) deep and 17 3/4" (45cm) high. It is in good condition and it has a lovely patina. There are signs of age and use and some marks and light knocks on the seat and around the legs but nothing detrimental. There are some old repairs but nothing untoward and the chair is strong and sturdy. There are some signs of historic worm which has all been treated as a precaution and hasn't affected the chair structurally or aesthetically.
