Description
A wonderful ornately engraved antique solid gold locket suspended from a beautiful 9ct gold 18 inch necklace.
This solid gold locket pendant was assayed* (tested for gold purity*) at Chester Assay Office in 1911.
The posterior surface is decorated with a shield cartouche framed by exquisitely engraved acanthus leaves and floral motifs
Shields represent the desire to protect.
The posterior surface is also ornamented with acanthus leaves.
Acanthus leaves convey the desire for longevity / immortality.
A single forget-me-not framed by a semi-circular band with a Greek Key (meander) design symbolises true love, unity, loyalty and the unbroken flow of life.
The original 9 carat gold frames and also two clear portrait protectors are present.
This beautiful antique pendant is ideal to hold two photographs, portraits or locks of hair.
All clasps and hinges work perfectly.
