Art Deco Celluloid Vanity Purse: Flapper Powder Compact with Silk Cord, 1920s

Rare Art Deco vanity purse which dates circa 1920. The body of the case measures 10cm by 4.5cm. The black silk carry cord measures 17cm in length and the tassel is 12cm in length. This fabulous flapper vanity case is made of cream celluloid and the lid and base have carved floral decoration. The case has a push button catch which holds securely and the case opens to reveal mirror under the lid. In the base are two circular compartments which retain the original pink silk backed lambs wool puffs with bone finials. Offered in good condition. The celluloid body has no chips or cracks and the colours on one side of the case have some fading. The internal mirror has some areas of desilvering but retains a good reflection.
