Art Deco Double Sided Guilloche Enamel Tango Chain Powder & Rouge Compact / Vanity Case with Lipstick

Offered for your consideration is this fabulous rare tango vanity case dating circa 1920. The compact measures approx. 13 cm in total length. The compact itself is 6 cm by 5 cm and the lipstick case is 5 cm in length. This fine compact has domed body and is made of fabulous pure white guilloche enamel with intricate engine turned pattern beneath the vitreous coating as well as pretty handpainted floral design featuring pink cabbage roses and blue forget me nots. The case has pretty broad link chain with engraved finger ring and a further shorter chain with the lipstick holder attached. The lipstick is also made of white guilloche enamel and pulls out correctly, it's a little tight but does come out and contains some sticky remnants of lipstick. The compact has firm hinge and secure catch and opens to reveal a gilded interior with covered powder well in the base. The hinged powder well door has a little hook to hold the original puff in place and the powder well is empty. On the other side is a hinged double sided mirrored door which lifts up to access the concealed powder well which retains what appears to the be the majority of the unused pressed rouge. The mirror on both sides is convex.
