Art Deco Gwenda Powder Compact Foil Backed Picture Crinoline Lady c.1930

On offer is this 1930s powder compact manufactured by the British factory of Hussey Dawson and marketed under the familiar "Gwenda" trade name. This powder compact measures 6.8 cm square. This powder compact is made of chrome metal with glossy black enamel base. The lid depicts a crinoline lady strolling through a pastoral setting and holding a parasol.This picture is reverse printed under a protective celluloid covering and then mounted over shiny blue foil. The case has firm hinge and opens by way of the traditional Gwenda scalloped thumb catch. Under the lid is a clear and reflective polished metal mirror. The powder well is covered by the Gwenda Tap-Flap mechanism which is in good working order and the compact retains the original unused, clean sifter and paper instruction insert. This collectable powder compact is offered in very good condition. The case has no dents or dings. The picture lid has good, retained colours and there is no tarnish to the chrome metal.
